Forth House is a substantial, detached Victorian residence set in its own grounds. Built in 1863 it is one of the few remaining houses of its type on the Island that has not been turned into apartments or a small hotel.
In one of the most sought after parts of Shanklin, the house is ideally positioned for easy shopping or a quiet walk along the Sea shore, yet it is both private and peaceful without isolation.
Forth House is constructed of (Cowes) Yellow brick with slate roof and Cast Iron guttering. A traditional Veranda protects the recently refurbished red & black tiled path around the property. The Drive, protected by electronic gates, terminates in a Double Garage with individual electronic roller shutter doors, space for a third car beside and a turning circle.
Forth House under the present owners has undergone an intensive renovation project, over £150,000.00 having been spent in the last five years. The roof has been brought up to date with the inclusion of Velux opening windows and the complete replacement of all leadwork. The drainage has been renewed and new runs created to facilitate maintenance.
A new Bay with French style doors has been added, creating the Garden room, which is usable throughout the year.
Considerable works have been carried out in the Garden itself, a pavestone patio and birdhouse mounted in a stone circle on the rear lawn, with another stone circle on the front lawn leads to new paved steps up to the Gazebo also set in a stone circle.
Forth House has been internally revitalised, a new, state of the art Kitchen, matching Utility room and Garden room have been created, the Study fitted out and, off the master bedroom an ensuite shower room added. Although the period feel has been retained, fireplaces have been updated and renewed, while the whole property has been redecorated with the addition of fitted cabinets, display units, cornice and chair rail.
The House is approached via a remote controlled decorative Steel Gate protecting the Drive.
